Bösendorfer, Ignaz (1796-1859)

Austrian piano manufacturer. He founded his firm in Vienna in 1828 and was succeeded in 1859 by his son Ludwig (1835-1919). In the 1980s the company developed an electronic pianola that sends details of the music played on it to a computer.
