BBC Microcomputer

Microcomputer developed in 1982 in the UK by Acorn for use in a BBC computer literacy project. The BBC Model B followed on from the Acorn Atom, and was widely adopted in the UK education market, though a cut-down home computer version, the Electron, was not a success. The BBC B was followed by an upgraded version, the BBC Master, and replaced by the Acorn Archimedes.

The BBC Micro was a highly advanced microcomputer for its time, with full support for disk drives and network connection. Its immediate successor, the BBC Master, also sold well to schools, but was too expensive for home use and unsuccessful in the business market.

The BBC Micro computer has been credited with "shaping today's IT landscape" by at least one leading expert in computing.
Even if they don't there is nothing stopping you programming your own games, if you've downloaded software that emulates an old computer, such as a Vic, Atari or even a BBC Micro The best thing about all these emulators is that, after the connection time to the page, there is no cost.
