BT tanks

    0.04 sec.

BT tanks

Soviet medium tanks developed in the 1930s. They were employed successfully in the Spanish Civil War and in the occupations of Finland and Poland during World War II, but were outmatched by German Panzers when the USSR was invaded 1941.

The design was based upon the large-wheel suspension developed by Christie in the USA and culminated in the BT-7 of 1937. This model was driven by a 350 hp aircraft engine, giving it a top speed of 56 kph/35 mph, and was armed with a 76 mm turret gun.
