Babi-Yar

Subtitle of symphony no. 13 in B flat minor, for bass, male chorus, and orchestra by Shostakovich (text by Yevgeny Yevtushenko). It was composed in 1961 and first performed in Moscow, USSR, on 18 December 1962. Babi-Yar is the site of a World War II massacre of Russian Jews by the Germans.
