Babuyan Islands| Group of 24 islands in Cagayan province in the Philippines, to the north of Luzon Island; area 582 sq km/225 sq mi; population (1995 est) 24,500. The islands are mountainous and volcanic with little arable land; root crops (sweet potatoes) are grown. The major islands are Babuyan, Calayan, and Camiguin. Big game fishing draws tourists to the Babuyan Channel. |
