Town on the southern shore of Long Island, New York; population (1990 est) 202,900, including Babylon village (population (1990 est) 12,200) and other communities such as Amityville, Deer Park, and Wyandanch, and part of Jones Beach and Fire Island.

Babylon village is primarily a residential community, but also a fishing and boating centre with a public beach.
