Baddeck

Capital of Victoria County and resort on Cape Breton Island, northeast Novia Scotia, Canada; population (1991) 1,000. It is situated on the Cabot Trail, 40 km/25 mi west of Sydney. It was the home of the inventor Alexander Graham Bell, who conducted many experiments, died, and is buried here. In the 19th century Baddeck was a shipbuilding centre.
