Badura-Skoda, Paul (1927– )

Austrian pianist. He has recorded on both the fortepiano and the modern piano, particularly the works of Mozart, and his interpretations are noted for their attention to authenticity.

He studied with Swiss pianist Edwin Fischer in Vienna, and made his debut there in 1948 and in New York in 1953. He has published books on the piano music of Mozart and Beethoven, excelling as a performer of these composers as well as of Schubert. With his wife Eva (1929– ), he co-wrote Mozart-Interpretation (1957).
