Bagehot, Walter (1826–1877)

British writer and economist. His English Constitution published in 1867, a classic analysis of the British political system, is still a standard work.

Bagehot was editor of the Economist magazine 1860–77. His Physics and Politics published in 1872 was one of the first books to apply the theory of evolution to politics.
