Bailey, Donovan (1967– )

Jamaican-born Canadian athlete. At the 1996 Olympic Games held in Atlanta he won the men's 100 metres gold medal in a world record time of 9.84 seconds, going on to lead Canada to gold in the men's 4 × 100-metre relay. In 1996 he also broke the 50 metres world indoor record with a time of 5.56 seconds, and in 1995 won gold medals in the 100 metres and the 4 × 100-metre relay at the World Championships. In 1997 he helped Canada to its second successive gold medal in the 4 × 100-metre relay.
