Baily, Edward Hodges

Baily, Edward Hodges (1788–1867)

English sculptor. He executed a number of busts and statues of public persons, including the Nelson monument in Trafalgar Square, London.

Born in Bristol, he moved to London in 1807 and entered John Flaxman's studio. Baily was employed by George IV to execute the sculpture in front of Buckingham Palace and the figures on the Marble Arch, London. Other works include the monuments to Charles James Fox and Lord Mansfield in St Stephen's Hall, Westminster, and the statue of Athena for the Athenaeum Club, London.
