Bairnsfather, (Charles) Bruce (1888-1959)

British cartoonist, artist, and writer. His ‘Old Bill’ cartoons - grimly humourous depictions of British soldiers in the trenches of World War I - were at first censured. In World War II he was official cartoonist to the US Army in Europe 1942-44.

After World War II, his work also appeared in Tatler, Life, and The New Yorker.
