Baker, Janet Abbott (1933– )

English mezzo-soprano. She is noted for the emotional strength and richness of her interpretations of lieder (musical settings for poems), oratorio, and opera from Henry Purcell to Benjamin Britten, including a notable Dido in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas. She retired from the stage in 1982.
