Baker, Newton Diehl (1871–1937)

US Democrat politician. He was secretary of war under Woodrow Wilson 1915–21 and a US member of the Court of International Justice at The Hague in 1928.

Baker was born in Martinsburg, West Virginia, and educated at Johns Hopkins and Lee universities. He was major of Cleveland 1911–15. In 1928 he was elected president of the Woodrow Wilson Foundation.
