Baldwin Park

City in southwestern California, 29 km/18 mi east of Los Angeles, of which it is a growing commuter suburb; population (1990) 69,300. It was settled in 1870. Situated in an agricultural area on the San Gabriel River, it raises poultry, cultivates vegetables, berries, and citrus fruits, and also has a wide variety of aerospace and other manufactures.
