Balla, Giacomo (1871-1958)

Italian painter. A leading member of the Futurist group, his work is concerned with themes of time and movement. Influenced by photographic techniques, he developed a style using multiple images and blurred outlines. His Dog on a Leash (1912; Fine Arts Academy, Buffalo) is one of the best-known Futurist works.
