Ballesteros, Seve(riano) (1957– )Spanish golfer. He came to prominence in 1976, and has won more than 60 leading tournaments around the world, including the US Masters in 1980 and 1983, and the British Open in 1979, 1984, and 1988. As non-playing captain he led Europe to victory in the 1997 Ryder Cup. A flamboyant character, he was one of the most popular golfers of his generation. He won the European Order of Merit six times.
