Ballet comique de la reine

Stage entertainment performed in Paris, France, on 15 October 1581, at the marriage of the duc de Joyeux and Mlle de Vaudemont, under the supervision of Balthasar de Beaujoyeux. The verse was by the Sieur de la Chesnaye, the scenery by Patin, and the music by the bass singer Lambert de Beaulieu, Jacques Salmon, and others. It was in effect the first ballet de cour.
