Ballston Spa| Town and administrative headquarters of Saratoga County, eastern New York, 11 km/7 mi southwest of Saratoga Springs; population (1990) 4,900. Founded in the late 18th century, it has abundant natural springs and became a fashionable early- and mid-19th-century watering place. It now has a variety of light industries and is largely residential in character. |
