Bampton

Market town in Devon, England, 10 km/6 mi north of Tiverton; population (2001) 1,700. A fair, dating from the 13th century, at which Exmoor ponies are sold, is held on the last Thursday in October. The parish church dates form the 14th century, but is much restored.
