Bancroft

Town in southeastern Ontario, Canada, 93 km/58 mi northeast of Peterborough, on the York River; population (1991) 2,400. The site is rich in minerals, including uranium. The economy also depends on lumbering, woollen milling, dairying, and outdoor holidays.
