Bangweulu Lake

Lake in Zambia, 1,140 m/3,740 ft above sea level. There are several small lakes, surrounded by the vast Bangweulu swamps. In the rainy season the lake covers an area of up to 9,800 sq km/3,784 sq mi, but is shallow (under 5 m/16 ft) throughout.

The explorer David Livingstone came to the lake in 1868.
