Benha

Capital of Qalyubiya governorate, northern Egypt, 45 km/28 mi north of Cairo; population (1996) 145,800, (2007 calc) 172,100. Benha is situated on the direct route from Cairo to Alexandria, and the railway yards form the hub of Egypt's rail system. The region produces grapes, cotton, and honey.
