Banja Luka

Town in Bosnia-Herzegovina, situated on the River Vrbas; population (2005 est) 165,100. It is a commercial and manufacturing centre. The town dates from Roman times. It has a spa, is the seat of Roman Catholic and Orthodox bishops, and has several mosques. It lies at the centre of Bosnian Serb territory.
