Barberini

Italian family, originally from Florence, who were raised to a high rank among the Roman nobility, when one of its members, Cardinal Maffeo Barberini, became pope 1623, assuming the name Urban VIII .

The Palazzo Barberini in Rome was built by Bernini, and gave its name to the square before it. It contains a museum, a gallery of paintings, and a library, which was collected by Cardinal Francis Barberini, one of the nephews of Urban VIII.
