Pius VII (1742–1823)Pope from 1800. He concluded a concordat (papal agreement) with France in 1801 and took part in Napoleon's coronation, but relations became strained. Napoleon annexed the papal states, and Pius was imprisoned 1809–14. After his return to Rome in 1814, he revived the Jesuit order. How to thank TFD for its existence?
