Barnesville

Town in southeastern Ohio, 61 km/38 mi southwest of Steubenville; population (1990) 4,300. Local industries include the manufacture of machinery, glass, paper, textiles, and dairy products. There are coal and natural gas deposits nearby.

The US inventor and manufacturer of telegraphic equiment Elisha Gray was born here in 1835.
