Baron, Salo (Wittmayer) (1895–1989)

US educator and author. He held the first Miller Chair of Jewish History, Literature, and Institutions at Columbia University, was editor of the Jewish Social Studies quarterly, and wrote the 18-volume Social and Religious History of the Jews, 1937–52. He testified to the history of European anti-Semitism at the 1961 trial of Adolf Eichmann.
