Baron, Salo (Wittmayer) (1895-1989)

US educator and author. He held the first Miller Chair of Jewish History, Literature, and Institutions at Columbia University, was editor of the Jewish Social Studies quarterly, and wrote the 18-volume Social and Religious History of the Jews, 1937-52. He testified to the history of European anti-Semitism at the 1961 trial of Adolf Eichmann.
