Baronscourt

    0.02 sec.

Baronscourt

Irish seat of the Duke of Abercorn in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, 5 km/3 mi southwest of Newtownstewart. The estate has been developed as a holiday centre with fishing, water-skiing, and golf.

At Lough Catherine, one of three semiartificial lakes on the estate, excavations of a crannog (prehistoric lake dwelling) show evidence of settlement from prehistoric times. There are also ruins of a medieval castle on the site.
