Barrhead

Town in central Alberta, Canada, 90 km/56 mi northwest of Edmonton, in the Paddle River Valley; population (1996 est) 4,200. Industries include agriculture, forestry, oil, gas, manufacturing, and retailing. There is a historic fur trading trail (1825).

The town was named after Barrhead, Scotland. It moved from its original site in 1912 in order to be located on the railway.
