Barrie| City and administrative headquarters of Simcoe County in southern Ontario, Canada, 80 km/50 mi northwest of Toronto, on Kempenfelt Bay of Lake Simcoe; population (1991) 62,700. It is a year-round resort in an agricultural and dairying region. Industries include tanneries, machine workshops, varied light manufacturing plants, and breweries. Camp Borden is to the southwest. |
