Barros-Arana, Diego (1824–1907)

Chilean geographer, historian, and diplomat. As a leading member of his country's boundary commission, he helped draw up the definitive frontier between Chile and Argentina in the late 19th century.

Barros-Arana was professor of geography at the University of Santiago, and Chilean minister in Buenos Aires. His works include General History of the Independence of Chile, 1854–57, Elements of Physical Geography, 1881, and General History of Chile, 1884.
