Barrymore, Drew Blythe (1975– )

US actor. She became well known for her role in Steven Spielberg's classic feel-good film ET the Extraterrestrial (1982) when she was only seven years old. She starred in a string of romantic comedies during the late 1990s, for example The Wedding Singer (1998). She also appeared in films of other genres, starring for example in the cult horror film Scream (1996) and in the film adaptations Charlie's Angels (2000) and its sequel Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (2003), which she also produced.

She founded her own film company, Flower Films, in 1994. She was executive producer and star of the films Never Been Kissed (1999), Donnie Darko (2001), Duplex (2003), and A Confederacy of Dunces (2005).

Barrymore was born in Los Angeles into a family of actors: her father was actor John Drew Barrymore, Jr, and her grandparents were actors John Barrymore and Delores Costello. Her first acting appearance was in a television commercial before she was a year old. Her first film appearance was in Altered States (1980), at the age of four. After a break from work in her early adolescence, during which she gained notoriety for excessive drinking and drug-taking, she returned to film, appearing in erotic thrillers such as Poison Ivy and Gun Crazy (both 1992) before evolving a more sweet and innocent image in romantic comedies such as Everybody Says I Love You (1996), Ever After (1998), Riding in Cars with Boys (2001), 50 First Dates (2004), and Fever Pitch (2005).
