Bartram, William (1739–1823)

US botanist. Bartram's father was John Bartram, America's first botanist. In 1765 William accompanied his father on an expedition to Florida, and remained in the American south, drawing and studying the natural environment. He declined a professorship in 1782, and was elected to the American Philosophical Society in 1786.
