In computing, software program that runs on a Web server. The program is designed to facilitate electronic commerce transactions, enabling the user to purchase goods and services over the Internet. A shopping cart may do any or all of the following: allow the purchase of multiple items; provide subtotals, including any necessary adjustments for tax; send the appropriate stock adjustment information to the vendor's stock databases; calculate shipping charges; and produce customer invoices.
