baseband

In computing, type of network that transmits a computer signal without modulation (conversion of digital signals to analogue). To be able to send a computer's signal over the analogue telephone network, a modem is required to convert – or modulate – the signal. On baseband networks, which include the most popular standards such as Ethernet, the signal can be sent directly, without such processing.
