Basking Ridge

Community in Bernards Township (population (1990) 17,200), north-central New Jersey, 11 km/7 mi southwest of Morristown. It was settled in the early 1700s and is now an affluent residential suburb with a financial services industry.

To the east is the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. White's Tavern here was the site of the British capture of General Charles Lee in 1776, in the American Revolution.
