Bates, Katherine Lee

Bates, Katherine Lee (1859-1929)

US poet. She is best known for her patriotic poem ‘America the Beautiful’ (1895). Her Selected Poems appeared in 1930.

She was professor of English literature at Wellesley College, Massachusetts 1891-1925.
