Baum, Kurt (1908–1989)

Czech tenor. He made his debut in Zurich in 1933, in the first performance of Zemlinsky's Der Kreidekreis/The Chalk Circle. He sang at the German Theatre in Prague 1934–39, and appeared as Radames at Chicago in 1939. From 1941 to 1967 he sang at the New York Metropolitan Opera House, often in operas by Wagner. He sang Rossini's Arnold at the 1952 Florence Festival, and the following year was heard as Radames at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London.
