Bay Shore

Town in southeastern New York State, 8 km/5 mi east of Babylon, on Long Island's southern shore; population (1990) 21,300. It is situated at the widest point of Great South Bay, and is a fishing and boating centre. Ferries from Bay Shore cross to Fire Island.
