Beauport

City in southeastern Québec, Canada, 11 km/7 mi northeast of Québec City, on the north bank of the St Lawrence River; population (1991) 69,200. Although principally a residential suburb, it has some light industry.

One of the earliest European settlements in Canada was established here in 1634. The modern city is an amalgamation of Beauport with the surrounding communities of Courville, Giffard, Montmorency, St Michel-Archange, Ste Thérèse-de-Lisieux, and Villeneuve.
