Becht, Hermann (1939- )

German bass-baritone. After engagements in Brunswick and Wiesbaden he sang at the Deutsche Oper, Düsseldorf, from 1974. He is a leading performer of Alberich in Wagner's Ring cycle and has sung the role in London, New York, and at Bayreuth (from 1979). His other roles include Mandryka, Kurwenal, Amfortas, Falstaff, and Pfitzner's Borromeo.
