becquerelSI unit of radioactivity, equal to one radioactive disintegration (change in the nucleus of an atom when a particle or ray is given off) per second. The becquerel is much smaller than the previous standard unit, the curie (3.7 × 1010 Bq). It is named after French physicist Henri Becquerel. |
