Bedier, Charles Marie Joseph (1864–1938)

French author and scholar. He succeeded Gaston Paris as professor of medieval French language and literature at the College de France in 1903. Les Fabliaux 1893 and Les legendes epiques 1908–13 greatly influenced the study of medieval literature. He also wrote Histoire de la litterature française, revised 1948–49. He was born in Paris.
