Town in Nottinghamshire, England, 5 km/3 mi southwest of Nottingham; population (2001) 66,700. The area comprises Beeston, Stapleford, Chilwell, Bramcote, and Toton. The main industries include telecommunications, manufacturing chemists, lace and hosiery manufacture, light engineering, and iron founding.
