Beeville

City and administrative headquarters of Bee County in southern Texas, 72 km/45 mi northwest of Corpus Christi; population (2000) 13,100. Its main economic base is oil. Leather goods, meat, brooms, soft drinks, oilfield equipment, and roofing are also produced.

Settled in the 1830s, it was formerly a typical cow town, raising cotton and cattle. Bee County College (1965) is here, and Chase Naval Air Station is to the southeast.
