Belawan

Largest port in Sumatra, Indonesia, at the estuary of the River Deli on the Strait of Malacca, 19 km/12 mi north of Medan; population (2001 est) 103,100. Belawan handles most of Northern Sumatra's export trade and serves a hinterland of some 10 million people. Exports include rubber, tobacco, coffee, and palm oil.
