Belford

Village in north Northumberland, England, 22 km/14 mi northwest of Alnwick; population (2001) 1,200. It was once the scene of constant border raiding by the Scots; later it became known as a centre for fox-hunting. Belford Hall was designed by James Paine in 1756 and partly rebuilt in 1818.
