Bell, George Kennedy Allen (1883–1958)

English Anglican prelate and ecumenical leader. He served as chaplain to Archbishop Randall Davidson 1914–24, dean of Canterbury 1924–28, bishop of Chichester from 1929, and honorary president of the World Council of Churches from 1954. He supported the German churches against Nazism, and in Britain was noted as a devoted pastor, concerned with the place of modern art in the church.

His book Randall Davidson (1935) is in effect a history of the Church of England between 1880 and 1930.
